2-Day Immersive Wheel Throwing Class, Oct 18th 2-6 pm and 19th, 9-1pm, $500
Discover the art of wheel throwing in this hands-on, two-day workshop designed for both beginners and those ready to refine their skills. Guided by Heidi, you’ll learn the essential techniques for building confidence and consistency at the wheel while exploring your creative potential.
Over the course of 8 hours of focused instruction, you’ll practice foundational steps and work toward creating pieces that truly reflect your style. Each student will select their best 6 pieces to keep, which Heidi will carefully finish and glaze in the color of their choice.
With only 7 spots available, this small-group setting offers plenty of personal attention and one-on-one support, ensuring a rewarding and inspiring experience.
About Heidi Pommer
Heidi Pommer is the founder and owner of TealNest Pottery, recognized as the Best Teaching Studio out of 308 studios. A designer, fine artist, and sculptor, Heidi brings over eight years of wheel-throwing experience to her students.
Her teaching style is both methodical and hands-on. By developing her own step-by-step approach, Heidi helps students achieve optimal results and build confidence at the wheel—making the learning process faster, clearer, and more rewarding. Follow my work on Instagram.
Who Is This Workshop For?
This 2-day workshop is ideal for:
• Complete beginners ready to learn the fundamentals of wheel throwing
• Anyone with some past experience who hasn’t touched clay in years and wants a fresh start
• Students who have taken our Couples Wheel Workshops and are eager to keep learning
Note: Minimum age is 18.
Things to Know:
• Students must keep short nails to learn proper hand posture and prevent damaging their pieces
• Expect to be seated for long periods of time at the wheel
• A certain amount of upper body strength and a healthy back is needed for this workshop
What to Expect:
• Learn the essential foundations of wheel throwing:
• Tools, clay structure, and wedging
• Centering, compressing, lifting, and shaping
• Day 2: trimming and refining your forms for a polished finish
• Each student receives a 25 lb bag of clay
• Select 6 of your best pieces to be finished and glazed by Heidi in your chosen color
• All necessary tools are provided
• Students must dress accordingly and bring a large old towel
• Finished work will be ready in about 4 weeks
• Pieces must be picked up within 30 days of notification
